UNFORESEEN CONSEQUENCES!! EastEnders star Colin Salmon says ‘no easy way out’ for George Knight and Kojo Asare after drugs twist

EastEnders star Colin Salmon has said there’s ‘no easy way out’ for George Knight and Kojo Asare after a drugs twist rocks Walford.

According to the latest batch of EastEnders spoilers, George is set to enter a desperate battle to save his brother from the crime world.

The lovable Kojo has recently become friends with Harry Mitchell, eventually getting himself involved in selling drugs for Ravi Gulati.

In scenes set to air on Monday, August 18, Ravi decides to move their whole operation to Kojo’s flat when henchman Okie reveals the police have raided their base.

The following episode on Tuesday, August 19, marks Kojo’s birthday, with Harry tasked with keeping him out of the flat all day. At The Vic, George and the Knights are having a celebration drink for Kojo, who is excited that George intends to take him out for the day.

Sadly, George gets sidetracked with his new lover Nicola Mitchell and Kojo heads home to find Okie and his acquaintances have taken over the place. Okie gives Kojo a pill, promising it’ll calm him down. However, in a stunning twist, George later finds Kojo in a terrible state and realises he’s taken drugs.

On Wednesday, August 20, George gets Kojo to Phil Mitchell’s place, but Jack Branning arrives and discovers he took drugs. George is shaken when Jack explains he’ll need to arrest Kojo. Convinced Harry gave Kojo the drugs, George makes it his mission to get the truth, leading to a confrontation that drags in Nicola and Gina Knight too.

In what looks to be a dramatic week, Thursday, August 21, sees Ravi putting Harry in charge of getting Kojo back at the flat and under their control. Harry successfully convinces Kojo to trust him and promises not to let anything happen to him, so when George interrupts them with accusations against his friend, Kojo backs him up.

Speaking to the BBC about the new storyline, George actor Colin revealed that he was ‘worried about Kojo going off and being independent because of the promise he made to their brother Kobina to look after him’.

“I also think there may be a little bit of jealousy from George towards Harry because he can see how close he is with Kojo. George is happy Kojo has a friend but sad that he’s on the outside of this bromance,” he said.

According to Colin, George views his brother’s birthday as ‘a big milestone in their relationship’ and a chance to ‘give him ‘a present that means a lot to him’.

“He gets sidetracked by Nicola because she’s upset. Although George has cooled things off with her, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t care because he’s not the kind of guy to get involved and then drop someone.

“So, George offers the chance for Nicola to talk to him, and she trusts him with what she’s going through. Unfortunately, that means he is too late to take Kojo out… I think George feels like he’s 14 again when he’s around Nicola and he’s feeling a spark,” he teased.

Asked about George discovering Kojo’s taken drugs, Colin said: “He goes into an absolute panic. It’s George’s worst nightmare and he immediately assumes that Harry is to blame for this. He knows that Kojo wouldn’t take drugs and so he assumes that he’s been spiked or been tricked into it. Kojo hates drugs and George knows that, so he immediately points the finger at Harry.”

Saying that George has ‘met a lot of lads like Harry during the years he’s run bars’, Colin noted that ‘he can see that Harry could be involved in drugs’.

He explained: “It doesn’t mean George is judgemental of Harry because Gina has had addiction problems, but he can see Harry isn’t being truthful. George knows when someone is lying to him. What’s really sad is that he doesn’t realise that Harry is trying to protect Kojo.”

With George entering a ‘state of panic’ when Kojo takes Harry’s side, Colin says his character ‘desperately wants to protect’ him, but it may prove a challenge.

“His gut is telling him that something is not right, and things aren’t adding up, but Kojo won’t let him get involved. The problem is that Kojo is an adult, and George can’t just treat him like a child so it’s a very difficult situation and one there’s no easy way out of for any of them,” he stated.
