George was open to the idea of relocating with Eileen, but before she jetted off to her new adventure, she called time on their relationship, confessing she only loved him platonically.
In next week’s teasers, George decides it’s time to move forward as he informs his sister Glenda Shuttleworth that he’s lined up a date with a woman named Samantha, reports Leicestershire Live.
George seeks his sister’s counsel, particularly as he unveils his new outfit purchased especially for the date. However, things take an unexpected twist when the date commences, leaving Glenda gobsmacked at the sight of her brother’s new romantic prospect.
Spoilers reveal both Samantha and Glenda are shocked to recognise each other from their primary school days. As they enthusiastically embrace, George is relegated to the sidelines, much to his chagrin.
Soap aficionados might spot a familiar face in newcomer Samantha, portrayed by actress Liz Carney. Liz has previously graced Emmerdale with her presence in three separate roles spanning from 2008 to 2020.
The actress has portrayed Janet, a therapist and liaison officer on the beloved ITV soap, amongst other roles in Mount Pleasant, The Royal and Grange Hill.
This follows Sue Cleaver’s departure from the hit ITV soap earlier this year after a quarter of a century on the cobbles. Speaking on Loose Women, where she serves as a panellist, 61 year old Sue revealed: “I have decided after 25 wonderful years that it is time to hang Eileen back up in the prop cupboard.
“I’ve decided it’s time to leave, they’re keeping the door firmly open for me. It’s just the right time!”.
Reflecting on her exit, she shared: “Emotional, emotional, I mean 25 years is a long long time!”
Sue added: “I went into that show when my son was, well he’s 29 now, he was very young. It became my family!”, and mentioned that her initial plans didn’t include becoming such a longstanding character on the soap.
