ANGER ERUPTS! Coronation Street’s Colson Smith calls out former co-star over meal betrayal

Coronation Street actor Colson Smith has jokingly called out former co-star Ben Price after what he described as an act of “bad friendship”.

The pair, who portrayed Craig Tinker and Nick Tilsley respectively on the ITV soap, have hosted the On The Sofa podcast with David Platt actor Jack P Shepherd since 2019, with the trio discussing all manner of things.

In the latest episode, released on Friday (25 July), Smith began by calling out some “bad friendship” on Price’s part, with the actor explaining that his friend and co-star had been “shady” following a recent meal.

“Now I feel like it’s two against one here and I’m going to say the words soul club. It’s shitty, isn’t it Jack?” he quipped, with the actor explaining that they often visit restaurant chain Wagamama and build up reward points.

“We get a free starter or main every now and then – we’ve got it mastered,” he said, adding that they had recently redeemed points that had saved Price “probably £18”. He explained further that it was “fine”, reasoning that Price had a free main reward lined up.

It didn’t go to plan, however, with Price sharing that he used the rewards during a meal with his daughter. Smith joked the move was “full shithouse” and that Price was “eating [their] money”, while Shepherd laughingly said that it was a “joint effort”.

“I think you’re right to call that out Colson, it was shitty,” admitted Price in response, with Smith saying that his former co-star had betrayed both him and Shepherd in an act that he amusingly dubbed “shithousery”.

Smith’s 14-year stint on Corrie came to an end in May, with Craig tragically dying from his injuries following an attack by Mick Michaelis. In an interview following the dramatic scenes, Smith explained that the arc was correct for his character.

“In a really weird way, it was the right thing for Craig to be killed,” he explained. “Craig dying in the line of duty as a copper, and getting that hero’s death, was by far the most perfect story for his exit. I’ve got everything that I’ve got from Coronation Street.”
