Coronation Street viewers were utterly gobsmacked to discover the real age of actress Jane Hazlegrove.
Jane burst onto the scene in 2019 as Bernie Winter, the long-lost mother of Gemma (played by Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul (portrayed by Peter Ash), quickly securing her spot as a fan favourite on the ITV soap.
Bernie has been at the centre of some major storylines, including the heart-wrenching scenes in September 2024 when Paul passed away from Motor Neurone Disease (MND) with Bernie right by his side.
Adding to the drama, Bernie was stunned when her long-lost son Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) made an unexpected appearance last year. Her love life has also been a hot topic among Corrie watchers, especially her beloved romance with Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin).
Before joining the cobbles, Jane graced our screens in shows like Silent Witness, The Bill and Doctors, and she’s well-remembered for her role as Kathleen ‘Dixie’ Dixon in BBC’s Casualty from 2006 to 2016.
However, it’s Jane’s age that has recently caused quite the stir among fans after she celebrated her birthday on the 17th of July, reports Leicestershire Live.
A Corrie Facebook fan page was abuzz with birthday wishes, with one user posting: “Happy 57th birthday wishes to Jane have a fantastic day.”
The revelation had fans quickly chiming in with compliments, expressing their amazement at how fabulous Jane looks for her age. Another person was stunned, commenting: “No way she doesn’t look it .”
A third fan joined in the surprise, saying: “I thought the same!” Agreeing with the sentiment, someone else praised: “An amazing actress, she looks good for her age doesn’t she?”.
When she’s not on the soap, Jane is happily settled with her beloved soap star wife Isobel Middleton. The couple exchanged vows in 2015 and have shared over 28 years together.
Isobel, an actress herself, is no stranger to the small screen. Isobel has portrayed three different characters in Emmerdale throughout the years. She appeared as Dr Lane in 2014, played a barrister during Simon McManus’ trial in 2018, and in 2020, she took on the role of Jean Rawson in the series.
But Isobel’s acting credits aren’t limited to Emmerdale. In 2002, she graced EastEnders as Sadie Banks, and she even ventured into the world of film, appearing in 2009’s Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
