It seems like another actor will soon be leaving the famous cobbles, as Adam Hussain, known for his role as Aadi Alahan in Coronation Street, has confirmed he will be leaving the soap after a five-year stint on the show. The actor took to social media to confirm the rumours of his departure and explain that he was “ready to spread my wings a little.”
Aadi is currently involved in a storyline involving the fallout of love interest Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) accidentally taking LSD, and a robbery in the corner shop owned by Aadi’s dad, Dev (Jimmi Harkishin). Aadi threw the party where the LSD was used and Lauren inadvertently picked up a cup containing the drug.
Now, as well as Aadi not owning up to doling out the LSD, it’s also revealed in the latest episode, July 18, that he’s set up the robbery himself to help pay off a loan he’d taken out to compensate for over-ordering stock, and that he was now in £6000 of debt.
It’s not sure what exactly will see Aadi’s exit but the revelation of these two storylines is bound to have something to do with it. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.
The character of Aadi was first introduced to viewers in 2006, with Hussain taking over the role in 2020. He has been involved in significant storylines, including romantic entanglements with Summer Spellman, Amy Barlow, Kelly Neelan and Courtney Vance.
Hussain, whose exit storyline will play out over the summer following Aadi’s dad, Dev’s return and a robbery at the corner shop, those scenes are due to air tonight. The actor announced his departure via an Instagram post, stating: “I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.”
He continued: “Over the 5 years I’ve spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!”This isn’t a farewell for Aadi however, more like a see you later!”I’m excited to see what the future brings! Thank you @coronationstreet @itv for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time! Adam”
