Although Days of Our Lives’ Abe suffered amnesia for a time and was a captive of the unhinged Nurse Whitley, he was ultimately rescued and his memory returned. It was then that he recalled his love for his wife, Paulina, who never stopped worrying about him when he was missing. The two are a great example of a soap couple that can withstand the test of time, and that’s refreshing for fans.

They Have Real-Life Chemistry

James Reynolds and Jackée Harry, who play Abe and Paulina respectively, spoke with Swoon about the couple’s strong bond. Despite having challenges, Harry explained that, “Ultimately, they love each other, and they are devoted to each other, and they respect each other.” She continued, noting that the two will be together to the end, “’till the wheels fall off.”

Reynolds noted that what sets the couple apart from other soap relationships is that “they aren’t a carbon copy of each other. They have different attitudes, different motivations and backgrounds.” He knew their real-life chemistry as friends would translate well to their characters because they are so opposite in their approaches to life.

They Need To Shake Things Up, Just a Little Bit

Reynolds also explained that Harry is a very amicable scene partner. He also noted that it brightens his day when he knows they’ll have scenes together. “When I’m looking at those scripts and I see ‘Paulina,’ I know I’m going to have a good day,” he happily remarked.

Harry also posed some story concepts that she’d like to see the strong couple tackle. She stated, “I would love to see him try to cheat on me.” Harry clarified that she didn’t want to see Abe actually cheat on Paulina, but would be amused if he got close to cheating but she caught him. “Just a little chasing,” she remarked, adding that, “Everybody can’t be happy…” Harry also felt that a bit of mystery injected into the story was in order.
