Emmerdale has confirmed a dangerous twist for Sarah Sugden in a tense new trailer.

After deciding that she wanted to become a mother, Sarah recently began looking into IVF treatment. However, in a tragic turn of events, she was later diagnosed with cervical cancer.

Despite this, Sarah’s hopes of having a baby remained possible as there was a chance she could still conceive through IVF. With Jacob Gallagher offering to be her sperm donor, the plan seemed to be going ahead.

Meanwhile, upcoming episodes will see more obstacles for Sarah, when Jacob accidentally reveals her IVF plans to her granddad Cain. Cain is furious when he learns the truth but Sarah is determined to pursue her baby dream.

She tells him, in no uncertain terms, that she will be going ahead with her goal to become a mother. But first, she must undergo a major operation for her cancer.

A new teaser trailer, posted on Emmerdale‘s social media, sees Sarah in the hospital as she prepares for her daunting operation.

“She’s got cancer. She can’t be thinking about babies,” narrates Cain’s voice, as visibly terrified Sarah lays in the hospital bed.

Though Charity is there to support her granddaughter during the surgery, she takes one last opportunity to urge Sarah to reconsider her pregnancy plan.

Later, as Cain and Charity anxiously sit in the waiting room, they are approached by a doctor who comes bearing bad news. “I’ve just come from Sarah’s surgery,” she tells them. “Things haven’t gone to plan.”
