WHEN GEORGIA MAY FOOTE left Coronation Street three years ago, bosses said the door would be left open for her return.
But sadly, it has been slammed shut as I can reveal her character Katy Armstrong will be killed off.

And in an odd move by show chiefs it won’t even be shown on screen — instead leaving it to another character to announce that she has died in a car crash.
In scenes to be shown next week, her ex-boyfriend Chesney Brown (SAM ASTON), the father of her son Joseph, will learn of her death while in hospital himself.
He is recovering from an infection after collapsing at work when Sinead arrives with the devastating news and he discharges himself.
A TV source said: “As Katy, Georgia was really popular with Corrie fans and had some big storylines. But bosses have clearly decided that she has no future in the soap, and have ruled out a return by killing her off.
“You might have thought they would show such a well-known character being written out on screen but that wasn’t to be.
Georgia spent five years playing Katy before leaving in 2015 to take part on Strictly Come Dancing.
She said at the time: “I’d decided the time was right to go before I met with producer Stuart Blackburn to discuss Katy’s future.
“It was a mutual decision for me to leave, but I wish I’d got in first.”
She probably feels the same way about her death.
JOE McFADDEN may need to use some of the medical knowledge he picked up on Holby City after suffering toe injuries.
The actor was crocked during Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals and has even had to cut holes in his shoes to relieve the pressure.
His dance partner KATYA JONES is sweating over the practice of the Cha Cha for Saturday as Joe keeps having to stop and rest.
A source said: “Joe’s feet are starting to really feel the pain from his Cuban heels. His big toes are getting really squashed and hurt in training and he is in a lot of pain whilst doing his routine this week.
“Several times throughout the day, he has to take breaks and stop to massage his feet.
“Katya needs him to get back to training and practise their dance so to help him, she has cut out holes in his dancing shoes to relieve him of the pressure.”
It was Joe’s birthday on Monday – let’s hope he doesn’t get the boot as a late present at the weekend.
Chorus line-up for BBC
KARAOKE machines were invented back in the early Seventies but clearly someone has only just informed the BBC.
Having revealed new series All Together Now, which sees amateurs belt out their favourite songs, BBC1 bosses are auditioning for the almost identical Singing Games.
The programme – from the makers of Lip Sync Battle hosted by Mel B and Professor Green, above – will see contestants go head to head in karaoke battles to win big cash prizes.
A telly source said: “It’s a brand new concept with a lot of scope for it to do well.
“Producers are on the hunt for contestants at the moment and encouraging everyone to apply. The cash prize will definitely be an incentive for people to take part. There’s lots of traditional singing formats on telly but the BBC seems particularly keen on the karaoke-style show now.”

RYAN THOMAS is grabbing his sunglasses and swapping life on Coronation Street for Ramsay Street.
The actor, who played the cobbles’ Jason Grimshaw until June last year, will star in Neighbours from early 2018.
Ryan said: “I grew up watching Neighbours so to get the chance to join the cast is amazing.
“I was on holiday with my daughter when I got a phone call from my agent asking if I’d like to play this part.
“I spoke to the producer and found out more – it was very different from anything I’d played before. It was quite a deep, dark story that really interested me.
“It’s a new challenge and I can’t wait to start filming.”
I hope that he’s packed his sun cream.
