Emmerdale‘s latest episode saw villain John Sugden plan his next move in an ominous finale.
The villain has been wreaking havoc on the village, attempting to satisfy his hero complex by putting people in danger and then saving them — or accidentally killing them, as he did with Nate Robinson.
In new scenes, John appeared to eye his love rival and half-brother Robert Sugden as his next victim.
Robert recently returned to the Dales on his ex-husband Aaron Dingle’s wedding day with John. During a prison visit to Robert, John learned Aaron had kissed his ex on their big day.

Furious about Aaron’s betrayal, John reacted threatening Robert and confronting his husband about the kiss when he returned home.
“You kissed him on our wedding day,” a disappointed John told Aaron in front of Victoria.
“I was just in shock,” Aaron replied, insisting “it didn’t mean anything” and that he still envisioned his future with John.
After John left for work, Victoria went to see her brother Robert. She begged him to stop trying to split the new couple up.
Robert rebuffed accusations that he was jealous, insisting that John was not to be trusted.
“Something’s not right about him,” he told Vic, adding the doctor had threatened him after finding out about the kiss.
“I’m only looking out for you and Aaron,” he continued, but Vic was adamant that John was “great” for Aaron.

“He’s dangerous, Vic,” Robert said. “You say that he’s great for Aaron, but do you even know him? Do you know anything about him?”
Vic remained convinced John was kind and a huge help to her, Aaron and the village and left Robert before he could add anything else.
John returned home much to Aaron’s surprise, though he clarified he wasn’t sure he would stay.
When Aaron said they’d both made mistakes in their relationship, John replied coldly: “My only mistake was trusting you.”
Despite Aaron’s assurances “it was always going to be” John, the paramedic couldn’t shake the feeling his husband was pulling away.
At the end of the episode, John was in a dark place and decided to call a mental health helping for support.

“I feel like I’m drowning,” he said to the person on the other side.
When asked whether there was something else in his life that made him feel good, John immediately talked about his job.
“There’s… work. I’m a paramedic, ex-army medic,” he said. “When I save someone, it is the biggest high in the world.”
The unaware helpline worker encouraged him to focus on saving people and find his fulfilment in that.
“Yes, thank you,” John said. “I know exactly what I need to do.”
