SHOCKING NEWS!! EastEnders fans say ‘the end of an era’ as major change confirmed for next week

EastEnders fans have all said the same thing as a significant shift is on the horizon following Kat and Alfie Moon’s wedding episode.

Friday’s (June 13) episode confirmed whether the much-loved couple decided to tie the knot.

In one of the briefest soap engagements ever, Alfie (Shane Richie) and Kat (Jessie Wallace) were prepared to say their vows just a week after his proposal.

The pair, who first crossed paths in 2002, have been hitched twice before, with infidelity and hidden children among the obstacles in their relationship.

As with most things involving them, the wedding didn’t go smoothly, with Kat deciding she didn’t want to marry Alfie, who she was cross with for not discussing the adult content they discovered on the family laptop with their son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall), reports the Manchester Evening News.

Adding to this, one of the limos from their new venture was nicked and their backup bus broke down before getting them to the wedding venue.

Despite choosing to call off their engagement, Kat was informed by Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) that Alfie only wanted to make her happy and urged her to put herself first for once.

While all this was unfolding, Kat’s other ex-husband Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) advised Alfie not to let go of Kat as he assisted in fixing the bus.

In a rare EastEnders joyful conclusion, the couple decided the wedding was back on as Kat and Alfie exchanged vows on the top deck of the bus, with Mo Harris (Laila Morse) officiating.

EastEnders has said a poignant goodbye to Chris Clenshaw as executive producer, with fans now eagerly expecting the fresh direction under new boss Ben Wadey, whose first episode is set to debut next week.

During his tenure, Chris won hearts by introducing the nail-biting Six storyline and orchestrating the dramatic demise of Martin Fowler in the Queen Vic explosion.

Dedicated viewers flocked to social media to praise his final episode and celebrate his contributions, which included EastEnders securing eight trophies at the British Soap Awards.

One social media user expressed gratitude by tweeting:”And so this era comes to an end. Every single viewer voted award at the BSAs. An NTA. A BAFTA. And a return to the character led #EastEnders that is full of history, tragedy, joy and fun that only the fans understand. @chris_clenshaw – thank you for a truly golden era.” A second person chimed in with their admiration: “He was brilliant, I hope it doesn’t get boring now.”

Another shared their thoughts saying, “What an era. So many brilliant moments and storylines, and I think Chris Clenshaw and his team can be proud of what they achieved. Deeply sad that it’s all over but now we move on to a new era on Monday!”

Meanwhile, someone else reflected on the changeover stating, “The Chris Clenshaw era of EastEnders is over and I’m just expected to carry on my day like normal?”.

Additionally, a fifth fan praised the show’s most recent instalment: “Well that was a wonderful episode and a great way to finish Chris Clenshaw’s era. Thank you for everything!”
