Fans of the ITV soap have been loving scenes between two characters and have called on bosses to give them a ‘spin-off’

Coronation Street fans have hailed the ‘chemistry’ between two of the show’s characters and have called on bosses to give them a ‘spin-off’.

Vicky Myers recently marked a year since she became a regular on the cobbles, and four years since she first appeared in the ITV soap as DS Lisa Swain.

Vicky, who also had two minor roles in Corrie before her long-running gig, previously explained in a new interview that Lisa was simply ‘DS Swain’ as she led the police investigation into the assaults on Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin which led to the latter’s death.

However, Lisa later returned for a number of other high-profile cases, including on-the-run serial killer Stephen Reid. But still, it wasn’t until March last year that Lisa was made a recurring cast member in the long-running show.

Meanwhile, Jacob Roberts swapped Chester for Weatherfield when the former Hollyoaks star arrived on screens as DC Kit Green last year.

He arrived in Weatherfield earlier this year after Bernie Winter went on the hunt for the long-lost son she had given up at birth. It was later revealed that he was a cop, working with Lisa.

While fans have often loathed Kit, they were seemingly celebrating him, or more so Jacob’s portrayal of the character, this week thanks to scenes alongside Vicky.

It’s been a few weeks since tragedy struck in Weatherfield as the innocent cop was killed in the line of duty by newcomer Mick Michaelis.

As fans of the ITV soap know, Craig was supposed to be on placement with CID but was given the cold shoulder by his mentor, DC Kit Green, and his distracted and rather cruel behaviour saw Craig seek advice from DS Lisa Swain.

She was seen encouraging Craig to prove Kit wrong, and let her know if he had any more issues with the detective constable. But his decision to put back on his uniform later went against him in a devastating way that led to his death.

During Wednesday’s (June 11) episode of Corrie, it was time for the residents of Weatherfield to say their own goodbyes at a memorial for Craig following his private funeral, only attended by Kirk Sutherland from the cobbles.

When Kit failed to show up, and due to make a speech, it was left to Lisa to save the day after Kirk appeared too upset to do the speech himself.

Later, Lisa was seen railing at an intoxicated Kit for making her re-live the memories of losing her late partner, Becky. And fans were enjoying the scenes between the pair.
