Coronation Street will explore the traumatic result of Mick Michaelis’s domestic abuse in an emotional scene with his children.

Recently, it was revealed that villain Mick had been abusing his wife Lou, resulting in her attempting to flee with their kids.

After finding out that Kit Green was the biological father of their son Brody, Mick lashed out at Lou, leaving her with a bloody wound on her head. After Mick walked out, Lou took her young daughters, Joanie and Shanice, and tried to escape to a women’s shelter.

Cab driver Tim Metcalfe saw the injury and insisted on taking Lou to the hospital. When she was later wanted for police questioning, Lou ran away, leaving Tim and Sally to look after her girls – though she did return for them.

In upcoming scenes, Tim once again steps in to take care of Joanie and Shanice, but Sally isn’t happy about the arrangement. She tells her husband that Lou is using him but Tim, who is keen to become a foster parent, points out that it’s good practice.

Later, Sally berates Tim for his bad habits around the house, but the exchange causes the girls to panic and they cling to each other, visibly scared. Noticing their reaction, the couple discuss Shanice and Joanie’s disruptive home life as they try to help the children.

Previously speaking about the Michaelis’s family dynamic, actor Ryan Mulvey explained how his character Brody has become a father figure to his sisters.

“It’s so nice that I’ve got the aspect of Brody’s younger sisters, who he absolutely adores and he’d do anything for them,” Mulvey told Digital Spy. “He’s so protective of them, just because of the missing parental figures in their life.

“Brody becomes their dad or their carer, in a way. It’s really nice to play that softer side to Brody. It feels like a weight off his shoulders when he’s around them, even though he’s trying to look after them. He doesn’t have to put on an act or impress anyone.”
