Brace yourselves for more romantic drama on Coronation Street, as Rob Mallard has shared plans for his character Daniel Osbourne to fall for someone new.
Rob teased his alter ego’s future in an exclusive chat with us, as we caught up on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards 2025.
Both of Daniel’s main love interests left Weatherfield this year. Bethany Platt headed off from the cobbles in February after securing a new job in London – a storyline written in for Lucy Fallon’s real-life maternity leave.
Daisy Midgeley then left Weatherfield with a bang in May – her departure will be permanent as Charlotte Jordan has bowed out to pursue new projects.

Looking ahead to Daniel’s future, Rob told us: “I’m not allowed to say anything too specific, but sure enough, he’ll be falling for another woman. He’ll be falling head over heels again. When that happens, I’m not too sure.
“And he’s gone back to work at the school. We’ve got all the kids in the show, and with the age that they’re at with the storylines, I should be involved with the younger cast a bit more.”
Asked whether Daniel will learn from his previous romantic mistakes, Rob laughed: “No, he can’t! He’s Ken’s son, isn’t he? Everything’s got to be a mess all the time.
“So I’m expecting just more chaotic relationships, just over and over and over again.”

Rob went on to share his thoughts on Lucy Fallon and Charlotte Jordan both now being away from the show.
“Lucy’s gone off to have a baby – in real life, I mean. She had a baby and she’s coming back as soon as she can,” he said.
“I’m happy for Charlotte. She needs to do what she needs to do. She’s so beautiful and so talented. She’s going to do amazing, amazing, amazing.”
He then laughed: “But I would prefer her to keep her beauty and talent here next to me to make me look better, do you know what I mean?!”
The British Soap Awards 2025 took place at the Hackney Empire in London on Saturday evening (31 May).
Fans can watch the ceremony this Thursday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
