Coronation Street’s Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) recently fell for a man called Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). The chemistry between them was evident, but it was soon obvious that Theo was struggling with the situation.
The reason for this was soon explained when Todd found out that Theo was married to a woman and the couple had two teenage children. Theo’s wife, Danielle (Natalie Anderson), had no clue that Theo was attracted to men and when she saw Todd and Theo kissing she was devastated.
In the wake of this, Theo decided he wanted to try and mend things with his family, declaring that he would never see Todd again.
It was soon apparent that Theo was struggling. Danielle called Todd, saying that her husband had gone missing.

He turned up drunk in Coronation Street, getting himself into a fight with Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) in the process. Luckily Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) turned up and rescued him from what would have likely been a battering and took him to the cafe.
Todd arrived and Theo sadly admitted that he felt his family would be better off without him because of ‘what he was.’ Todd and Billy tried to convince him that there was no shame in him being gay.
They were shocked when Theo revealed that he came from a very religious background, and his church had put him through conversion therapy when he was younger in an attempt to change his sexuality.
The experience had scarred him and meant he was unable to accept himself, even at the same time as he was unable to deny his feelings for Todd.
Billy and Todd were horrified by this revelation and saddened that he’d gone through such cruel treatment. But, chillingly for Theo, this experience soon comes back to haunt him when a face from his past reappears.
When a man called Noah walks into the Rovers and waves at Billy, Theo is shocked and rushes out. He tells Todd that he recognised the man. Noah was present at the conversion therapy.
