This is the moment in Coronation Street where Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) realises troubled teen Brody (Ryan Mulvey) might actually be his son.
The episode of the ITV soap that aired yesterday gave us a glimpse into Kit’s past with Lou (Farrel Hegarty) and Mick (Joe Layton).
A flashback to 2007 revealed that Mick and Kit were good friends, who got up to plenty of mischief, as teens do.
However, things escalated dramatically when a shopkeeper made derogatory comments about Kit’s birth mother, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove), and he decided to get revenge.
With Mick’s help, he lit fireworks and pushed them through the letterbox of the store – unaware that there was someone inside.
Kit was left horrified when he suddenly heard screaming coming from inside, where the shopkeeper’s wife was trapped.
It wasn’t long before the shopkeeper arrived and immediately set his sights on Mick, giving Kit the opportunity to make a run for it.
When the police arrived, they arrested Mick and he ended up serving a custodial sentence for Kit’s crime.
To make matters even more complicated, it transpired that Lou had cheated on Mick while he was in prison – with Kit!
When Kit wandered into Speed Daal and spotted the Lou and Mick enjoying a celebratory meal with Brody, who had just been released from the STC, he stopped in his tracks.
Having overheard that Brody was 16, he began to put the pieces together about his time spent with Lou.
And he does the same thing again in upcoming episodes.
In this new video, Kit grabs Brody outside the shop and forces him to empty his pockets, convinced he has stolen something.
Kit asks Brody for his name and date of birth but just as he says he was born in 2009, Kit is taken aback, clearly making some sort of discovery.
Just as Lou approaches, Kit asks her outright if Brody is his son. She tells him to not rock the boat, and that Mick has been Brody’s father for the past 16 years.
It’s very clear that Kit is close to the truth about Brody though, but he remains unaware that a confrontation with Mick about Lou and loyalty will ultimately kickstart a devastating chain of events in Weatherfield.
Crazed character Mick will speak to Lou about Kit’s comments and the next time we see her, she’s sustained a head injury.
