After the announcement of the passing of General Hospital and Days of our Lives star Denise Alexander, former co-star Susan Seaforth Hayes took to social media to remember the late actress.
A Friend to Treasure
Seaforth Hayes remembered Alexander on Instagram with an old photo of herself with Alexander and her late husband, Bill Hayes.
“Denise Alexander was a friend to treasure and an actress to applaud. She was well established on Days when I joined the cast as Julie #4 (a replacement for 3 previous actresses). She watched Billy and I fall madly in love and, being a romantic lady herself, cheered us on,” Hayes wrote.
Before arriving in Port Charles as Lesley Webber on GH, Alexander portrayed Susan Martin on DAYS for seven years.
“Such happy memories of her in Salem and her great success on General Hospital. We both began as child actors, both had strong mothers, and both were raised as Christian Scientists in our early years. I was grateful for her wisdom, taste, humor, and goodness every time I saw her. And my love for her will never be over,” Seaforth Hayes concluded along with a heart emoji.
Seaforth Hayes also collaborated on a post with Michael Fairman TV, where Fairman noted one of his favorite memories of Alexander and how it involved The Hayeses.
Along with a video clip of Alexander, Fairman wrote:
“Denise Alexander – One of my most wonderful memories of knowing Denise, was when i was producing the #DaytimeEmmys Lifetime Achievement Award tribute to honor @billsusanhayes. Since we wanted the participants in the tribute kept a surprise, we snuck Denise into #Days Burbank studio to sit-down with me to film her thoughts on her former #Days co-stars and lifelong, very dear friends. We laughed, we cried and she was worried she would accidentally spill the beans to Susan Seaforth Hayes before the big night and we had several phone calls about it. To my knowledge, she didn’t. When she left @dayspeacock to come to GH back in the early 70s, it was a big deal. She then became Dr. Lesley Webber on @generalhospitalabc and a beloved enduring fan favorite – thank you for all the conversations Denise, and your big heart.”
