Coronation Street‘s Eileen Grimshaw faces police questioning in tonight’s episode amid suspicions over her sister’s death.
Eileen is summoned down to the police station while she’s still overwhelmed with grief following the sad passing of her sibling Julie Carp.
Brian Packham plays a key role in Eileen’s new ordeal when he starts to fear that there’s more to Julie’s death than meets the eye.
When Brian offers to return Julie’s unused medication, he realises that it’s missing – along with Eileen’s own painkillers. Much like Julie’s nephew Todd Grimshaw, Brian starts to wonder whether her death was planned.

Brian catches up with Roy Cropper and Billy Mayhew at the café and shares how much he’s struggling with the loss of Julie, who’d reconnected romantically with him in the weeks before her death.
“It was [a shock] for me – even more so now I know what really happened,” Brian explains grimly.
“I was at the house talking to Mary. We were going to take Julie’s painkillers and wheelchair back to the chemists and the hospital. Only, when I looked in her bag, it was all gone and there was an empty packet of Eileen’s medication in there as well.”

He adds: “Julie should have had enough medication to last her another week at least. Where did it all go? Unless, she took it, all of it.
“Eileen was with her. When I offered to accompany them to the lake yesterday, why were they so insistent it was just the two of them and no-one else? Unless Eileen knew about it too…”
Brian decides that he has no choice but to raise his suspicions with the police, who bring Eileen down to the station for some tough questioning.
Eileen is stunned by the theory that she helped Julie in an assisted dying plan following the news of her terminal illness, but can she successfully convince them that she had nothing to do with it?

It’s no secret that Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen, recently filmed her final scenes for Corrie after 25 years.
Could Eileen be heading to jail in her final episode, or is a happier ending on the horizon?
Speaking in January about her decision to bow out, Sue commented: “I’ve had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street. The door is still firmly open but as I reached my 60th year I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly.”
Coronation Street airs Eileen’s police scenes tonight at 8pm on ITV1, while the episode is also streaming now on ITVX.
