Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that many fans are starting to wonder if John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) organ donation will save Bo Brady’s (Peter Reckell) life when this sepsis drug potentially fails. Is that how Days will tie these storylines together?

Of course, we should start by pointing out that when John’s DOOL exit story was written and filmed, Drake Hogestyn was still alive.

Although Hogestyn was obviously quite ill and facing grim odds at the time, everyone at the show held out hope that he might be able to return.

Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) talked about that in an interview back in March.

“I understand that Ken [Corday, executive producer] had [spoken to Drake] and that the door was wide open for him. Ken had said, ‘The minute you’re ready to come back, you’re back.’ I think all of us that loved him so much were just braced for whichever [outcome it might be],” Hall said.

In other words, there was a certain understanding that although John was getting a fatal exit arc, Hogestyn could’ve returned if he’d made a miraculous recovery.

That sadly didn’t happen since Hogestyn passed away in September 2024 following his pancreatic cancer battle.

Even so, the fact that the door was left open for Hogestyn’s return could be an indicator that they’ll avoid an organ donation story.

That would’ve given Days some unnecessary hoops to jump through if they’d been able to bring John back.

John might get more of a presumed demise instead under the circumstances.

Then again, Days has proven that they can undo pretty much any fatality if they want to.

It’s possible that they just planned to make it work no matter what and use some wild explanation if Hogestyn had reprised his role.

In that case, there’s still a chance John might be the hero of Bo’s return storyline.

There are no guarantees when it comes to this sepsis drug that’s in its very early stages.

Even if Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) manage to steal it, Bo may have too much damage for it to save him as his organs start shutting down.

It’s possible that John will get seriously injured in his exit story and save Bo’s life with an organ donation on his way out.

Regardless, there’s been some social media buzz regarding this “John saves Bo” theory, so we’ll see how things play out for Bo and John in the end.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say John’s demise will bring tough news for his loved ones, but some positive Bo predictions and eventual recovery updates are on the way.
