COBBLES AWAY Coronation Street star QUITS soap after five years – and last scenes are just months away

ANOTHER Coronation Street star has quit the soap – following months of speculation he had walked.

The news comes amid Corrie’s ongoing cash crisis and mass cast exodus, which has already seen seven big name stars leave the cobbles

He has recently spoken about various other projects

The Sun can exclusively reveal that Aadi Alahan star Adam Hussain has made the shock decision to leave after five years.

Sources say that while it was big decision to make, Adam is feeling confident and excited for the future.

Insiders told The Sun: “He’s telling people he’s quit, not because he’s had enough of the show but his character hasn’t had any decent storylines for ages.

“He’s had loads of new opportunities coming his way so he already feels like he’s made the right decision.”

Adam, who is just 24, joined the Manchester-based soap in April 2020.

He took over the role of Aadi from Zennon Ditchett, who played Dev Alahan’s son from 2009 to 2020.

However, Adam has not had a proper storyline for quite some time – leaving both the actor and fans scratching their heads.

The star has only been making occasional appearances on the cobbles for the past year, and just last month he revealed he had been working on a movie away from the ITV show.

Adam re-shared a photo of himself on set with a group of fellow actors, including Hollyoaks star Kirsty-Leigh Porter, who plays Leela Dexter on the E4 soap.

The pair are starring in new movie called Spice for Life, with Adam playing character Sully.

Alongside the photo, Adam wrote: “Was great working with these lot.”

Coronation Street star dies aged 72 as heartbroken family pays tribute

Last summer he sparked speculation among fans that he had secretly quit the show after posting about yet another acting project.

The TV star announced last July that he was set to star in a new film called Denial, which focuses on theme of men’s mental health.

Adam shared stills from the upcoming movie, which immediately got fans speculating that Aadi had left the cobbles.

“Is that why you’re not on Corrie though?” asked one fan at the time.

SHOCK EXITS

The Sun previously revealed how Coronation Street bosses have been forced to make cuts in a desperate bid to save the cash-strapped soap.

This means that a number of stars have either been axed or have abandoned the long-running show.

Last month, Sue Cleaver bid the cobbles farewell after 25 years of playing Eileen Grimshaw.

ITV bosses are locked in a battle to save the cash-strapped soap.

This means that a number of stars have either been axed from or have abandoned the long-running serial drama.

Colson Smith – Craig Tinker

The character of Craig Tinker has been axed by bosses after 14 years. After he was told of the news in Autumn 2024, Colson Smith confirmed that would be written out of the show with scenes to air later this year. Craig’s on-screen mum, Beth Tinker, also left the show in the summer when actress Lisa George was written out from the role.

Sue Cleaver – Eileen Grimshaw

After 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, former I’m A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver will quit the show. The Sun on Sunday reported in January that she’s already begun to film her exit scenes. However the character will not be killed off in case Sue opts to make a return in the future.

Luca Toolan – Mason Radcliffe

Bosses decided to axe the teenage character after just 16 months after he first joined the show. Recent scenes saw Mason stabbed by his criminal brothers after his pal Dylan brought a knife in an attempt to defend him.

Sue Devaney – Debbie Webster

In November 2024, we revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles. The character will die as part of a heartbreaking long-running dementia storyline.

Charlotte Jordan – Daisy Midgeley

The actress became the fifth star to leave Coronation Street in just one month. We revealed that she will bow out of the ITV soap later this year after four years on-screen. Charlotte told sources that she’s hungry to see what other opportunities await.

Shelley King – Yasmeen Metcalfe

The actress has played Yasmeen Metcalfe on the cobbles for the past 11 years and we revealed in January that she finished filming her final scenes. This follows the departure of her on-screen partner Stu Carpenter.

The fan favourite has filmed her final scenes after telling bosses last year that she wanted to leave.

Sue’s final on-screen appearance will air in the coming months.

Others, however, were not given a choice.

Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker, has been axed by bosses after 14 years.

The news was broken to him last summer and he has since confirmed his character will be written out of the soap this year.

In November 2024, The Sun also revealed that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off after 40 years on the cobbles.

Sue Devaney’s character will tragically die as part of a heartbreaking dementia storyline.

Episodes of Coronation Street have also been slashed to five 30-minute instalments a week, rather than six.

As many as 75 people will lose their jobs across both Coronation Street and Emmerdale, which is also struggling amid the budget issues.

ORIGINAL AADI

Meanwhile, original Aadi star Zennon stepped away from acting completely when he left the soap before Adam stepped into his shoes.

He initially made the decision to depart the show to focus on his A Level studies.

Zennon has now swapped his acting career for a brand new job as a management accountant at REFY.

In 2021, he even opened a Depop store in order to sell his unwanted designer threads.
