Coronation Street has lined up a surprise proposal in Debbie Webster’s big story.
As part of a long-running plot that will eventually lead to her exit from the soap, Debbie will be diagnosed with young onset dementia.
Marking the beginning of the big storyline next week, Debbie attends a private doctor appointment to discuss her recent memory issues.
Following her appointment, Debbie is told she may be showing signs of vascular dementia and she arranges a trip to the memory service clinic to have more tests done.

Later, in the hotel bar, Debbie reads a text from Abi which leaves her feeling confused. When Ronnie calls in with Debbie’s lunch, pointing out that she forgot it, Debbie masks her turmoil.
Meanwhile, back at the café, Tim admits to Ronnie that he let slip to Debbie about Ronnie’s plan to ask her to marry him.
Ronnie calls at the hotel and, after pulling out an engagement ring, he gets down on one knee to propose to Debbie. With Ronnie unaware of what she’s going through, will Debbie say yes or no?

Speaking recently about Debbie’s decision to keep her memory loss troubles from her family, Debbie actor Sue Devaney said: “I think Debbie is in denial and wants to pretend everything is alright until it’s not. She’s a protector of her family, even though she doesn’t have children. She doesn’t want to worry them.
“It’s like her world is being exploded. Also, people will treat you differently. She wants people to see her as the Debbie they know, the one who is in control and running a business. She doesn’t want them to see her as someone else.”
