Conductor and arranger Robin White has died at age 73.

A tribute to Robin was posted on his website, reading: ‘Robin White died in March 2025.

‘This site will stay up as a memorial to this remarkable man.’

The musician, whose work was broadcast on BBC Radio 2, appeared in a ‘pivotal’ episode of EastEnders in 2002 alongside his Alban Voices choir, his website states.

He set up the choir alongside late wife Freda over 20 years ago, with its name inspired by St. Alban’s Abbey, where it was founded.

Robin’s last album with the choir, American Choral Classics, was released in 2023.

According to his website, Robin trained at Imperial College, London and the Royal College of Music, studying conducting with Vernon Handley and orchestration with Bryan Kelly.

Throughout his expansive career, Robin worked with countless choirs and orchestras, and had some of his arrangements featured by the Australian Pops Orchestra in Melbourne.

A tribute to Robin was posted to social media site Twitter/X from an account dedicated to classical music.

‘Renowned conductor and arranger Robin White has passed away at 73,’ it said.

‘A student of Vernon Handley, White was celebrated for his light-music and outdoor concerts, particularly at National Trust sites.

‘His recordings remain a staple on Classic FM.’
