EastEnders’ Priya Nandra-Hart has made a decision about her daughter Avani’s ordeal, in the show’s latest episode.
Yesterday, the soap aired a harrowing standalone episode surrounding teenager Avani getting strip searched at the police station, after officers suspected that she was in possession of drugs.
She was initially reluctant to confide in her mum, who didn’t see the calls from the police, but when Avani eventually explained what happened, Priya furiously confronted Jack in the Square.
In today’s episode, Priya was concerned about Avani’s welfare following the previous day’s events and wanted to make a complaint about the police – but Avani urged her not to and was keen to forget the strip search ever happened.
Eve called round to Jean to make sure she didn’t tell anyone else about Avani, but they ended up in a tense argument when Eve found out that Jean hadn’t informed Stacey about Lily’s brush with the police.
Priya wanted to respect Avani’s wishes, and didn’t even plan to tell Ravi, but Suki and Eve reminded her that as her mother, she needs to be responsible and do what is best for her.
Later, when Priya discovered that Avani wasn’t in school, she encouraged her to open up, but the pair ended up having another big row.
This led Priya to change her mind, and she went to the police station to file an official complaint against their officers.
As Priya told a relieved Suki and Eve what she had done, Avani overheard and was devastated that her mum had gone against her.
Priya was keen to make up for her previous mistakes, but Avani was clear that she had made things worse as she now might have to make a statement.
Avani continued to ignore the concerns of her friends, and took a bottle of vodka from the Minute Mart. She stumbled to the playground drunk, before collapsing on the floor.
Will Avani be okay, and will she make amends with her mum?
