EastEnders‘ Phil Mitchell is set to reveal a huge secret after his return to Walford.

This week saw the character discharge himself from a mental health unit and reunite with his loved ones, with Thursday’s poignant episode focusing on Phil’s past month in the unit.

In new follow-on scenes set to air next week, we see Phil back at home and grateful for the support of his family and Nigel.

However, he isn’t ready to tell his friends and neighbours that he has been in a psychiatric hospital.

Later on in the cafe, Nigel – who has young on-set dementia that is only known to a small handful of people – makes mistakes, and Phil blurts out to Bernie that Nigel is unwell, and in retaliation, an angry Nigel snaps back.

He apologises profusely about sharing Phil’s secret, though Phil attempts to brave it out. Meanwhile, George tries to be supportive towards Phil, though the two struggle to open up.

Linda messages Nigel to see how his appointment went, though he lies that he went to the doctor at all.

George speaks to Linda about how best to support Phil, and she suggests that he doesn’t give up on speaking to his friend. George later requests that Phil be his sparring partner at the Boxing Den, which helps Phil to open up.

In the wake of this, George heads to see Nigel, proposing a new regular club called Boxing and Bantz for people over 40 at the gym.
