Coronation Street‘s Audrey Roberts appears to be on the move after 35 years living in her beloved home on Grasmere Drive.
The legendary character announces her plans in Friday’s episode as she comes up with an idea to help the Platt family out of their financial mess.
Long-time viewers know that Audrey has lived on upmarket Grasmere Drive since 1990, giving her some much-needed distance from the dramas on the cobbles whenever she needs it.
The property has occasionally featured on screen in certain storylines for Audrey – including in 2006, when Fred Elliott sadly died while visiting her on the morning of his wedding to Bev Unwin.
In Friday’s episode, David Platt continues to face problems despite finally paying off gangster Harvey Gaskell and removing the threat to his family’s safety.
David, his wife Shona and daughter Lily are currently living at Sarah Barlow’s flat after the terrible fire at No.8, but they’re starting to fear that they’ve outstayed their welcome.
David asks if they can move into Audrey’s place to give them more room while the repairs take place at the Platt house, but after considering the proposal, mischievous Audrey decides that she has other ideas.
Audrey soon announces plans to sell her home on Grasmere Drive, move somewhere smaller and use the money to help out David.

This seems like an act of generosity, until Audrey tells David that she plans to move into No.8 with the family and take over the annexe.
Over celebratory drinks at the Bistro, Audrey declares: “Do you know, I’ve already got somewhere. Once you’ve sorted out the annexe, I’ll move in there.
“You can’t expect me to stagger up the stairs to bed every night, can you?”
An outraged David complains: “You little minx. You’ve been planning this from the off, haven’t you? You can tell Shona, because I ain’t.”
Is it the end of an era for Audrey at Grasmere Drive and will she get her wish of moving in with the Platts?
Coronation Street fans can see these scenes tonight at 8pm on ITV1, or right now on ITVX.
