Mary Goskirk shared her big secret on Emmerdale as she confided in Gail Loman following the death of Suzy Merton.
Mary and Suzy had shared a romantic bond over the course of the past year, with the pair repeatedly being drawn back together despite their age gap and Suzy’s relationship with Vanessa Woodfield.
Suzy’s life was subsequently tragically lost during the devastating limousine crash, with a recent flashback showing that Leyla Harding – who also died in the accident – had discovered that Suzy had declared her love for Mary.
Still reeling from the loss of Suzy, Mary was in a sullen mood in Tuesday’s (March 11) episode as she worked away in the kitchen, though Gail quickly noticed that her colleague wasn’t quite herself.
After a moment of reflection, Mary shared that she was consumed by thoughts of the future she would never get to have with Suzy. After discussing their connection, Mary confirmed to Gail that she and Suzy had kissed on the day of her death.
After becoming emotional, Mary had to put on a brave face as Vanessa – who remains unaware of Mary and Suzy’s romantic history – walked into the kitchen, with the character handing Mary a journal which contained the other villagers’ thoughts of Suzy.
As Mary lovingly clung to the journal after Vanessa left, she was faced with all the emotions she had felt for Suzy – will she be able to keep her secret from the rest of the village?

Whilst Mary is still remembering Suzy, Roxy Shahidi – who debuted as Leyla in 2008 – recently discussed the discovery by her character, saying that knowledge of the love triangle would have been “tricky” to deal with.
“The love triangle revelation would have been really tricky for Leyla to deal with if she’d survived,” she said. “She had such loyalty to both Vanessa and Suzy. But knowing Leyla, I think she would have accidentally told the truth in the end!”
