Coronation Street is set to take audiences back in time for a rare flashback sequence that will depict Bernie Winter and her son Kit Green when they were younger.
Cast and crew members of the ITV soap were pictured filming the upcoming on-location scenes, which are set in 2008, with a young star playing a throwback version of Kit, seen talking a girl.
Later scenes will see Bernie (played by Jane Hazelgrove) leaving Kit with his foster mum as she departs in a taxi. Kit chases after the car but it’s too late.
What exactly the episode will entail or why we’re travelling back almost two decades remains to be seen, but it’s safe to assume that it will be an emotional one.
The relationship between Bernie and son Kit (Jacob Roberts) has been tense since they reconnected last year.
Bernie stunned Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) to silence when it was revealed that she had another child who they never met.
The character explained that she had chosen to give him away as a baby, as she would have struggled to cope with another baby, having already had the twins.
Bernie found out that the child – who she named Zodiac – had his name changed to Christopher Green by his adoptive parents, and she had been visiting every person she could find with that name in a bid to find her son.

A shock twist later confirmed that local detective Kit was the man in question – and he wanted nothing to do with her.
‘‘I think she’s come into his life at a time where he didn’t actually need her,’ actor Jacob Roberts – who previously starred in Hollyoaks – said at the time.

‘He’s got a great job and life now so he doesn’t want to disrupt that.’
Kit, however, softened overtime after he discovered that brother Paul – who he also never met – was dying.
Paul pleaded with Kit to give Bernie a chance and, while their relationship isn’t out of the woods yet, the ice has certainly thawed somewhat.
Discussing Kit’s characterisation, Jacob added: ‘Kit is working as a detective and has been brought in to try and solve the Lauren Bolton case and of course is Bernie’s secret son.

‘I do think he is going to be a very misunderstood character at first.
‘He’s been really hurt throughout his life and although he has a good heart, he has some deep rooted resentment with his biological mum, which will be really interesting to play out.’
