Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley has cleared up the long-running mystery surrounding just how many bedrooms Eileen Grimshaw’s (Sue Cleaver) house actually has.
Well, sort of.
Eileen owns what looks like an unassuming Weatherfield terrace from the outside, but it is actually pretty TARDIS-like on the inside.
While you might think it only has two, possibly three bedrooms, multiple characters have been known to occupy more than that over the years.
Currently, Eileen lives there with boyfriend George Shuttleworth, son Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), and lodger Mary Taylor (Patti Clare), while her recently-returned sister Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh) is now crashing with them in the front room.
However, in the past, Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) also stayed there.
One fan pointed this out on X, which drew a comical response from Tony, who plays George.
They posted: ‘Julie is sleeping in the front room. I assume Eileen sleeps with George and Todd has his own room. So where does Mary sleep? And at one point, Sean and Dylan lived there?’

Tony replied: ‘Mary snuggles in with me & Eileen. We’re a very modern household.’
So that clears that up, then… or not.
‘Well at least you would have a good laugh with Mary,’ one fan noted.
‘What a picture that would make,’ another remarked.

However, some space will be opening up soon, as Eileen will be leaving Coronation Street in the coming months.
Actress Sue Cleaver announced she’d quit the ITV soap after 25 years back in January.
She might have to make up another bed in the meantime, though, as her other son Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) is returning to the cobbles as part of his on-screen mum’s final storyline.
