A FORMER EastEnders star is thought to have landed a new role after she took to social media to tell fans about a new project on the horizon.

Cheryl Fergison, who played Heather Trott in the BBC soap for five years, has posted a picture on her Instagram page, which she’s captioned: “Something’s coming” alongside a heart emoji.

And underneath the post she wrote: “Announcement soon!”, prompting a number of responses from fans wishing her well with the new venture.

Despite her EastEnders character being killed of in 2012, when Cheryl was attacked by Ben Mitchell with a photo frame, Heather recently made a public plea to TV execs, after she was snubbed for EastEnders 40-year-anniversary special.

Sharing a picture on social media, the 60-year-old commented that despite having combed her hair earlier, it had now “turned into this very interesting period piece looking hair”, which she hoped might help her earn a new part.

She said: “[It’s] like I’m in some sort of period drama. Like some sort of Downton Abbey. Or even Call the Midwife.

“Is this fate telling me that somewhere, sometime soon… producers, casting directors, TV people of the biggest heights – is deciding to cast Cheryl Fergison in some wonderful new period drama?”

Before adding: “What say you all ? Can you see it ? Can the producers / casting people , TV channels and Film big bosses see it?

“Amber management are waiting on your email / call regarding this here client who’s ready to partake in their next biggest venture.”

Cheryl also recently admitted that work was so thin on the ground she’d been forced to claim benefits and even use a food bank.

Earlier this year she sung at the opening of a Chinese restaurant in Blackpool, with fans charged £15 a head to see Cheryl perform, with food also included in the price.

Cheryl also previously addressed her current financial situation and that she needed to stop working for free. She said: “My health is good, but my finances will take a long time to recover.

“Until I have steady work, I’m not rich or comfortable—I’m just surviving. I’ve been saying yes to everything for no money, but I need to start valuing my work and asking for fair pay. Even my agent insists on it.

“Still, I’ll never give in. I want to keep singing. If people criticise me for singing in small restaurants, so be it.

“At the end of the day, I’m an entertainer. Community has always been important to me, and I’ll perform no matter the crowd.

“If only two people show up, I don’t care—I’m still being paid, and I’ll still give it my all.”

She has at least been able to earn some money through regular pantomime appearances, most recently playing the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, at The Cresset Theatre in Peterborough, in December 2024.

But she also revealed on ITV daytime show This Morning, that she’d been conned out of a large amount of money.

She said: “There is a circumstance that started this, which I can’t talk about at this moment in time, but it started to spiral.

“The only way I can say it is I was conned out of a humongous amount of money.”

Last year, she revealed she’d been diagnosed with womb cancer in 2015, and urged other women to seek medical assistance if they had “even the smallest concern” that they might have it.
