Coronation Street is set to air the aftermath of Cassie Plummer’s manipulation of Ken Barlow, with Ken’s decision leaving Tracy stunned.
Tonight’s episode of the ITV soap will see Ken find out that Cassie has been spiking his drinks with antihistamines to make him drowsy while working as his unofficial carer, and using his credit card to make expensive purchases for herself.
Ken orders Cassie to pack up her things and leave as she begs him not to tell anyone what she’s been up to, though he threatens to warn Steve McDonald and also involve the police.
In Monday’s (March 3) episode, Ken is troubled to hear that Fiz and Tyrone have thrown Cassie out after they learned about her manipulation.
Tracy is left stunned when Ken tells her that he won’t be pressing charges against Cassie because she has already lost everything.
Meanwhile, Hope convinces Tyrone to go for a drink with Cassie. Can he forgive his mum? And is Ken already starting to consider forgiving her too?
Recently discussing the storyline, Cassie actor Claire Sweeney insisted that her character is complicated and her dangerous actions shouldn’t be seen as purely “evil”.
“It’s the way they’re writing it,” she told Digital Spy and other press. “She’s not being totally evil. She’s doing it because she needs him, she wants him to care for her. So she’s not being evil.
“It’s nice, they’re writing humour for her. I’ve got the stuff with Bill Roache, great stuff with Tracy Barlow as well. I feel very lucky. I’ve watched the show since I was a kid, so to be part of it, I feel very honoured.”
