UPCOMING Coronation Street scenes reveal the horrifying truth about Les Battersby’s death – as

We previously revealed how ITV chiefs had chosen to kill off Les (Bruce Jones) – who was last

seen on-screen in 2007.

In scenes yet to air, Nick (Ben Price) comforts Leanne (Jane Danson) at dad Les’s will reading – as Toyah (Georgia Taylor) watches.

Adam Barlow (Samuel Robertson) reveals the abattoir where Les worked is offering £50,000 as compensation for his death.

However, it comes with the condition of signing an NDA – non-disclosure agreement.

Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) suggests Chesney (Sam Aston) – Les’ one-time stepson – look into it.

As Leanne prepares for Les’s wake at the bistro, Nick reveals he has plans for a solo holiday due to Sam not getting time off school.

After the funeral, the group gathers for the wake, where Nick gives Leanne a comforting hug.

Les’ controversial off-screen death rules out a potential return for actor Bruce Jones.

The performer, now 71, played the role of gobby cabbie Les for a decade.

A source said: “It’s a huge snub to kill off a popular character like this.

“Bruce created one of the Street’s most iconic characters in Les and always hoped one day he might return.

“A lot of the cast and crew have said it’s a bit mean.

“It’s also bound to infuriate long-term fans who remember Les with great fondness.”

Les arrived on the cobbles with Leanne, his then-wife Janice (Vicky Entwistle) and Janice’s daughter Toyah.

In 2007, Bruce was suspended from the ITV show for allegedly getting drunk in a restaurant, insulting fans and revealing plots.

The actor was then written out from the soap.

Speaking last year, Bruce said: “Les is a legend. I’m so proud of him.”
