‘1923’ Season 2 Is Doubling Down Taylor Sheridan’S Most Controversial Scene But Madison Rogers Comes Out To Defend – Breaking News Updates

Love it or hate it, 1923 isn’t about to sugarcoat history. Season 2 is doubling down on one of Taylor Sheridan’s most controversial storytelling choices, and Madison Rogers is stepping in to defend it. While some fans argue it’s too brutal, Rogers insists it adds authenticity to the show’s raw, unfiltered depiction of the era.

If Sheridan has taught us anything, it’s that he won’t shy away from the uncomfortable, and 1923 is proving that once again.

1923 season 2 takes its darkest turn yet, and Madison Rogers defends it

1923 isn’t shying away from the dark stuff. Season 2 doubled down on one of Taylor Sheridan’s most controversial storylines, and Madison Elise Rogers, who plays Lindy, is standing by it.

At the end of Season 1, business tycoon Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) hired Lindy and Christy (Cailyn Rice) and forced them into violent acts for his own amusement.

Season 2 revealed he didn’t just move on; he kept them around. And now, Lindy has flipped the power dynamic, taking control over Christy while the abuse continues.

Rogers, speaking to ScreenRant, defended the brutal arc. She explained that Whitfield is obviously very dangerous and that Lindy’s descent into cruelty made sense under his influence. She said, adding that the power imbalance felt disturbingly real:

For one, I think a lot of women can see themselves in a similar position or maybe have experience, to a smaller degree, of being in a situation with a man that’s powerful and dangerous.

I think that is scary, and I think there’s something realistic about it. I feel like, if Whitfield existed, this would be something that actually happens. But I get it. I know it feels brutal, but I think it’s showing this very real side of a dangerous man and how he abuses his power. These women are just collateral in his scheme.

Despite the backlash, Rogers saw the scene as a raw depiction of manipulation. She added,

Speaking of Lindy in particular, I took it as she is in this house with this very wealthy, very powerful, and obviously very dangerous man. I think he’s given her this acceptance, or something along those lines, so I think she’s feeling favored by him.

I think it’s also that she needs to survive. She is leaning into it, but I think she’s completely been brainwashed. She’s doing what she has to do, as gruesome as it is, and she’s trying to get through what she’s going through.

For 1923, this isn’t just shock value — it’s a deep dive into survival, control, and power.

Netflix added Taylor Sheridan’s most intense thriller — Sicario is back

Netflix added a cinematic masterpiece from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, and if you haven’t seen Sicario, what are you even doing?

Denis Villeneuve’s 2015 thriller didn’t just shake up the crime genre — it owned it. Sheridan’s script pulls you deep into the brutal, no-rules war on drugs, where Emily Blunt’s FBI agent gets a crash course in how messy things really get.

Josh Brolin plays it cool as the task force leader, but it’s Benicio del Toro’s Alejandro who straight-up dominates — a quiet menace wrapped in pure vengeance.

Tense shootouts, cold-blooded reckonings, and a score that keeps your heart pounding — Sicario still hits hard. Now that it’s on Netflix, do yourself a favor and watch (or rewatch) this modern classic.
